Granada

Granada 10

When the hot sun settles and the air gets cool, the people of Granada come out into the streets again. There's a vibrant nightlife in Granada, especially when there's no holiday.

In Granada the best places to hang out at night are Pedro Antonio de Alarcón. Most nightlife takes place outside on the streets and on the terraces, but you can of course also go indoors.

Pedro Antonio de Alarcón

Pedro A. de Alarcón
In this newer area of the town, between the streets of Pedro Antonio de Alarcón and Martinez de la Rosa, students, moderns, super-moderns and all the others meet up to enjoy in locals of any style.

Plaza Nueva and Calle ElviraPlaza Nueva and Calle Elvira
It attracts a bit older people. You'll find here many tapas bars and restaurants. Calle Elvira is a street that features a good number of traditional Arab teashops to help you in this endeavour. One good option is Alfaguara, which serves all sorts of teas, both traditional and herbal, exotic pastries, natural fruit juice or shakes. The Pakistani tea or the Granada Batido (a shake made with nuts, honey, cinnamon and yoghurt) are specially recommended.

Around the Alhambra
We recommend you start your night out in one of the bars around the Alhambra. Especially during the summer months this is an ideal place to get into the swing of Granada's nightlife. Below the Alhambra, at the Paseo de los Tristes, you will find many bars offering "Tapas".

Albaicín
In this typical part of the town you'll find numerous popular localbars, which offer "Tapas" for the hungry - especially popular are snails and fried fish - and beer, wine and refreshments for the thirsty.

Campo del Príncipe
It's a pleasant square below the south side of the Alhambra hill, with a line of open-air restaurant terraces, highly popular on summer nights.

Las Cuevas del SacromonteLas Cuevas del Sacromonte
Here, at the caves of the gypsies in the mountain of Sacromonte, you will find "Zambra". (Samra in Arabian language means a spontaneous celebration of dance and music, that takes all the night long) The gypsies have revived this tradition for tourists and other pleasure-seekers.

In this zone we recommend the restaurant "Casa Juanillo" that has been considered as the best restaurant in the Sacromonte, this claim is difficult to refute seeing as it is the only restaurant in this area. Apart from the food and the atmosphere the most attractive characteristic about this restaurant is the panoramic view. From your table you will be able to see the Alhambra, the Generalife, the Silla del Moro and the full beauty of the Sacromonte valley.
